Jack Edwards, the voice of the Boston Bruins, has announced his retirement following the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It is fate.

His last call will be the Leafs eliminating the Bruins on OT.

I was watching the Flyers game live while following the Red Wings score on my iPad.

Torts pulling the goalie when he did was justified.

Sucks to be a Wings fan today, but that’s sports.

I see a 6 or 7 game series. The Bruins are sound structurally. Their biggest weakness is their ability to ramp up to another level. They play this way from game one of the season to the end. The Leafs play Helter Skelter hockey. They play wide open and take chances. They often get beaten playing this way. However, if they get on a roll, they can win a series against a structured hockey team. The Bruins and Carolina play a similar style and Carolina often dies because of this. The Bruins no longer have Bergeron, so the Leafs should have an advantage at Centre. For the Leafs to win, they must be the more physical team. The Leafs goaltending only needs to match the Bruins goaltenders to win this series. I'm not convinced that the Bruins goaltending is superior, it's just their defensive systems that make them look that way. Players to key on are MacAvoy and Pasternak. A strong forecheck is a must and crease presence in the offensive zone will be important.

For what its worth both Swayman and Ullmark have been (frank)ing horrid in playoffs.

Goalie is a lot of mental and the flip can switch either way for certain goalies heads.

I don't have confidence in Sammy though either. Play Woll.

Perhaps they haven't been at their best but I'm pretty sure considering them better tham Samsonov and Holl on paper makes more sense.

Now of course, it all plays on the ice and we've all seen our fair share of goaltenders surprise us positively or negatively for a good stretch of games so anything can happen.

They have been bad, not just not at their best. They have both crumbled in the playoffs.

And as a Leafs fan that has constantly heard about certain players crumbling in playoffs it is also true for other teams.

I would much rather play Ullmark than Bob or Vasi. 100 times out of 100.

If you swap the Bruins tandem with the Leafs tandem what would be the result? Boston gives up less chances as a team and makes their goaltenders look brilliant. When Florida beat them, last year, it showed that they were maybe a 7 out of 10, not the 9 out of 10 everybody thought they were. It's the Boston system that makes them look good.

Of course. Bob and Vasi are another level I agree.

But Boston still has the edge in net in that series, on paper at least.

I really think that the Panthers can be taken out by the Lightning. Vaselevskyi can be equal or above Bobrovsky. The Lightning have players that have actually won Cups. Florida just rode a hot goaltender last year. Don't be surprised if Tampa doesn't upset the Panthers.

I don't know Prince, that's alot of hypothetical scenarios. There's no way to tell how they would all look if they played on other teams but I do agree the Bruins play is helping them, that's a given.

But with things being what they are, they have a track record of success in their current situation, longer than the one Samsonov or Holl has showed. It's all I'm saying really.

Ullmark won the vezina last year ffs.

Should be a great series.

I wouldn't want to mess with Tampa the way they've been playing lately.

Yeah I just don't really care about goalies unless they are elite and truly take over when it counts.

They have both poop the bed.

Sammy has poop the bed. He poop the bed a little less then those 2.

I think you either have it or you don't as a goalie for playoffs. Very few goalies have it and bring it consistently.

And if the leafs beat Boston they will have to worry about that 2nd round.

They're going to have to deal with Domi, Reaves and Bertuzzi in their grill this year. These guys don't play on the periphery. There'll be scrums and physical play around the Bruins crease. In a long series it may mean the difference.

Agreed. For a while, they looked like they'd fight down to the wire for the last wildcard. They almost caught the Leafs at one point. Cooper is a superior coach.

I don't expect Reaves to play the whole series.

He'll be benched after taking a horrendous penalty or finishing a game at -2 despite playing 8 minutes.

Domi needs to be smart in his aggressivity, when he does, he's very useful and annoying. If he goes too far, he'll put the team in trouble.

Bertuzzi just needs to keep doing what he does best and should be a very important player for Toronto in the playoffs, as expected when he was signed.

Reaves has been good since January.

In good positions, making good plays, hitting well. Anyone who has watched the leafs consistently can see this.

Yeah, people seemed pleased about his play. Good for him and the Leafs.

I still think he doesn't play every game.
