Just got back from having a 7T MRI of my head… yet again I’m paid to go to the hospital lol. However they’re hooking me up to a SEEG on Thursday morning tho… I get to watch the last game of the season Wednesday night without beer and then get up to be not only at the hospital by 6am but will have to watch the playoffs from there for around a month… yay

Yeah, typically it would be 2-3 weeks but the senior surgeon knows me well at this point and said that it will be a month or so most likely.

I’m epileptic, they’ve removed part of my brain in 2021 in a lobectomy, but I still seize and they can’t figure out where it’s occurring. Was there 19 days last year instead of the typical 7-10 days for a regular EEG.

I apparently have multiple types of epilepsy and they pay me to study me thankfully. Got paid $25 an hour to just lie down in the world’s most advanced MRI today. Only 1 of them in Canada, 2 in North America, and a total of 6 world wide.

Lucky as hell to live in Canada for me when it comes to this, so I happily sign off on letting them share/study anything about me to help them make discoveries to help others.

A fellow epileptic eh! I think we have an international day at sometime in the year....but i guess at this point everything has "a day".

Sorry to hear about the month long hospital stay, hoping for a speedy recovery for you.

Did I tell you I gave someone a brain aneurysm?

Idk if I did, he was an alcoholic and overweight etc, but I definitely provided the stress that likely induced it.

Actually no… it may cause a seizure but not an epileptic one. I know this due to being a musician. Left a popular indie band (I’m still on Apple Music with those guys) because I was afraid loud music and facing stage lighting was dangerous for me after being diagnosed.

However it’s a subconscious seizure. Only occurring because you believe it will. Which means the neurologists know why it occurs, and if they know why, it’s no longer epileptic and can be treated with a psychological approach.

Are you one as well?! I didn’t know that if so, my apologies.

As for the recovery thank you but my hope is they can figure out what the problem is. I’ll have to go through another lobectomy which changes my success odds dramatically but hey… better than not letting them try.. my most recent tonic clonic seizure happened Friday around noon.

This round is about learning more than recovery. Let’s hope for the knowledge so they can come up with a plan for me…. And ffs I miss driving… lost my career after having my license suspended getting diagnosed with this at 35 (I’m 46 turning 47 now so I’ll have to start with a beginners if I’m ever allowed to drive again… ugh). Worked for a precast concrete company as a CET designing bridges, culverts, head walls, manholes and catchbasins, etc. they were decent and bought me out knowing I wasn’t allowed to drive anymore, they could have just fired me. But apparently they truly appreciated me chatting on HB while at work

OH I KNOW THIS SOOOOOOOO WELL

My lobectomy was Feb 3rd 2021. Wasn’t even allowed a visitor let alone food brought to me. Mom and the gf are allowed to come see me now so I’ll get a daily treat lol.

My gf: take out
Mom: home made

Love them both… and them too

Games about to start and I have to replace my Wicked Awesome with 2L of Peglyte - then 2 more starting at 3am. That's after no solid food all day.
This stuff is horrible.
Pray for me.

Very interesting.

I know this isn’t the same thing, but when I’m out of shape I can sometimes feel one coming on. I know to get low to the ground and it goes away. If I keep standing I’ll have a seizure. lol.

Once in the shower I had one tho.. sometimes I would stand for as long as possible, seeing how far I can push it before passing out, and get a weird head rush

Jesus Christ man. Well, at least you get paid and can have outside food, so that's a silver lining.

I hope the free WiFi is fast and stable so we don't miss you.

Well, there was an issue with the company I work for where pilots were drinking too much, and eventually one caused an accident drunk. So the company cracked down.

Me being a new manager, and my base particularly having some employees with a bad reputation when it comes to boozing, I put a stop to it. I warned the guy he was taking it too far, and he didn’t heed my warning. He shows up at my place right (frank)ing Richardered in a crew vehicle. Could barely walk.

He wasn’t even in poop, he just got transferred to a different base. But since he’s such a pissy pants RWNJ he couldn’t just accept accountability for his actions. He became super stressed because of it all.

He had a brain aneurysm in the shower in Sioux Lookout, and got medi-vac’d to Hamilton where it was discovered he had a brain aneurysm. This was 8 weeks ago, and he’s barely conscious now, can’t speak etc.

My job can be difficult.
