Hope he impales himself on his own stick.

Am I right in that they are burning a year of his ELC just to play two meaningless games at the end of the season? That seems crazy to me.

Wondering where all this vitriol was when Henry Thrun did the exact same thing to Anaheim last year? All the Ducks got out of that was a 6th round pick from San Jose. And remind me of what you thought when Justin Schultz really screwed the Ducks and declared free agency on the very last day he could so they got nothing for him. Philly got a really good defenseman in return so why don't you go have a Coke and a smile and STFU.

That is exactly why he left Philly. He wanted them to sign him last year and burn a year for meaningless games!

He is probably worth it this year though. But he already seems like a Primadonna with the Philly move.

Teams do it every year to avoid risking NCAA players the summer after to free agency. Habs just did it with Lane Hutson, he is playing 2 games this year and burns a year.

Actually it's one meaningless game. Ducks just did the same thing with Sam Colangelo, and there are a couple other Frozen Four players getting the same treatment. This is becoming SOP with top college talent - working around the CBA and creating what amounts to a 2-year entry level deal instead of a 3-yr deal. In a rising cap world, if Cutter turns out to be as good at the NHL level as he has been in WJC and college, it will be to Ducks' advantage to get him locked into a long-term deal sooner rather than later.

It only really matters to teams that are competitive and up against the cap. They need high performing cheap contracts. Anyone who is well below the cap doesn't care.

If he performs well, he has one fewer year of results off which to raise value. Regardless, below cap teams won't have any issue signing them anyway, and you aren't in a pinch because you don't need that player/contract situation to pan out to be competitive.

Haha Enjoy Jamie in the Press Box. He can't stay on the ice. Injured every week. Love how salty Flyers fans are. Who would want to play for the Flyers when the franchise goalie is going to jail, upper management condoned his son throwing someone's wheelchair down the stairs, Nickle and dime your future star. Anaheim burned a year on his ELC for ONE GAME!

I can confirm that you are in fact here and accounted for. As for the Cutter trade, I hope it works out fine for both teams.
