FIRST!!

and from the last blog

Morning ya crazy bastuhds...

Loved every minute of last night's game. The best part for me was that they approached it like a must win. Obviously Ottawa is not a playoff team, but that is as close to having to win a "4th" game as there is in the regular season and they were super. I didn't like the second half of the 1st but they took control after that and once it got to 2-0 I never felt the threatened.

The NHL does a lot of things well, for example, they're good an putting on one off events (stadium Series, The Winter Classic, etc) They SUCK at the schedule. Everyone should play their final games on the last day of the season. The NYR and the other 15 teams in the playoffs should know who they're playing and everyone should get the same minimum rest days.

And now I'm going to read the blog post!

Great blog Jan!

Lets.Fucking. GOOOOOO fellas!!!

That win felt good. Full team effort, everyone committed to playing good defensive hockey. All around what you want to see heading into playoffs. Oh, and Igor is playing his best hockey right now. Talk about good timing

Riding a high this morning, that's for sure. I never would have guessed at the beginning of the year that this team would have their best season in franchise history. It's been a treat all season long but the second season starts Sunday and my heart will be in my asshole. LFGR!!

I was a little worried in the waning seconds Brady Tkachuk was just so super annoyed at Rangers trying to get Panarin his 50th he was gonna annihilate someone

This year the Rangers finish with the Presidents Trophy, and the Knicks finished 2nd in the Eastern conference.

In the 93-94 season the Rangers won the Presidents trophy, and the Knicks finished 2nd in the Eastern Conference.

Why are you cheering for that outcome tonight? Opens the door for Pitt to be our first round opponent. Hoping for the Flyers to make it by some miracle?

Jan...any reason why President's Cup wasn't presented to NYR after the game? Thought it was tradition, and for as long as I can remember, this is 1st time that it didn't happen. Every yr. there was always talk about if the team touch/didn't touch it

I could very well be wrong. But, from what I saw in this morning's standings it shows Washington in the 2nd wild card, but tied with Detroit, with Pitt one point behind. So, my understanding was that if Detroit beats Montreal and Washington loses, the Red Wings will clinch the 2nd wild card.
And yes, it would be my preference to face Detroit out of those 4 teams.

That's a game a I'll take. Good to see Panarin hit the 120 point mark. Igor was good. Roslovic finally did something. Nice little boost of Laf. Wish Kreider got 40 but he still played well.

2 forwards I thought didn't play well....

Ahh I misread your original post. Thought you wanted Montreal and Philly to win. Too early for my brain I guess! Yes, that would be the case then. Personally I think I'd rather face Washington than Detroit, but they are pretty even. I would love for Pittsburgh to miss by 1 pt again this year, and would love to face Philly first round but that seems highly unlikely to happen. So I'm prepping mentally for it to be either Wash or Det.

no, there's always talk about not touching the Conference winning trophy before going to the finals

they never hand out President's trophy like that at the game

Craziest possible scenario tonight: Flyers must win in regulation to have a chance. Any kind of win by Capitals puts them in playoffs. What happens if game is tied late in third period? Flyers have to pull goalie, don’t they? Risking Capitals clinching on empty-netter.

This should be a fun night of hockey if you're a 3rd party.

Another reason to make regulation wins worth 3 points. So teams don’t play for ties in the 3rd period

Do the Kings or Knights want Dallas or Edmonton in round 1? Edmonton has waxed the Kings the last few years, maybe they prefer Dallas and Minnesota dominated that game at times last night.

Islanders game was weird. NJ dominated possession at times but never threaten and almost every time the Isles had a decent scoring change the first two periods, they converted. Kevin Bahl was brutal last night and Luke Hughes wasn’t much better on D.
