OMG, this.

Just drives me franking nuts.

You know Boston is franking superb at playing the rat game, and you know the refs are going to not call Boston's initial jabs - just the retaliation.

SO QUIT FRANKING TAKING STUPID RETALIATORY PENALTIIES!

I would have franking benched McCabe for life after that stupid penalty last night.

Stupid and selfish.

- Atomic Wedgie

The McCabe push / softest cross check ever from behind where the Boston loser dove like he got shot?

If so na' dawg I'm good with that since the Boston guy took an extra poke at Sammy AND managed to get his stick to accidentally / on purpose hit Sammy in the face. You make sure it's crystal clear nobody (frank)s with your goalie. Ever.

Boston are such rats and dirty but also divers - I just shake my head at how officials seem to keep allowing it.

Marchand's dive when Bert barely touched the back of his leg was telling (beyond the fact Marchand is a little rat female dog). To me it shows that Boston's captain is scared a bit that the Leafs were not easily intimidated at all and he is resorting to diving to draw penalties. That's probably a good thing for the Leafs as I would think the refs would see the replays and not be happy they got made to look the fool.

Guess we will see.

Especially since the deadline Ive been happy with the Leafs physical game. They don't need to do anything extra to "establish" this in the minds of their opponents. They just need to play their game. This team is physical enough. Previous teams tried to compensate. This one doesn't need to imo.

I think the Leafs were convinced that they'd meet Florida in the first round. When that didn't happen, they had to change the game plan for the Bruins. It still helps against the Bruins. I don't see the Bruins dropping the gloves against the Leafs. Florida, on the other hand would.

Actually you are right, he is developing into the player many said he could/would, no major set back. Like all players, avoid serious injuries early on, that's important for the players development.

Should be fun in a couple years with those 4 guys

I’ve mentioned a few times that my daughter is a big Habs fan, despite almost everyone around her being Leaf fans.
She follows them pretty closely, knows lots about all the players. The simplicity of her choice was the youth on the team. She also has a soft spot for the underdog 😉.

Back in 2013, after having thyroid cancer, they put me in a private room, after giving me radioactive iodine. I was so toxic that the nurses weren't able to even come in the room for more than 15 seconds. For 3 days, I sat in a room on the top floor of Kingston General Hospital. I had to be on a no salt diet for 6 weeks beforehand and that really depleted me. They give you the radioactive iodine to attract cancer cells and kill them. I tell you, I sure enjoyed my first meal after that one. I still had to quarantine for a month at home with no contact from anyone. They burned all of my clothes and anything that was in that hospital room. They took my netbook and quarantined that for 6 months before I could use it again. They shrink-wrap the whole room, even the bathroom fixtures and the walls are padded. If you were to cut yourself, a bio-hazzard team would come in and give you a hard brushdown. No thanks! No fun that summer.

Holy hell… I’m so sorry you went through that but I’m happy you also fought your way through it as well.

One of the ice things about being in the epilepsy ward here in London (only one in Canada) is the room is full of 10 epileptics at a time. So we get to talk to each other and it’s easy to bond with them.

Tip the leafs game comes on that is then we all just stare at our laptops/phones/ipads/etc lol. I actually was a tad worried they’d think I started seizing the way I responded to Matthews scoring last night

Florida and Tampa should be a treat tonight. That will be a tasty morsel of hate to witness. I just want to see some brutal stuff to wear down the victor of this series.

I'm not an epileptic and I almost had one also. I'm surprised that there aren't more deaths watching the Leafs play in the playoffs. They play Helter Skelter hockey and you never know how they'll react. That team is hard to place a bet on because they'll often do the exact opposite to what you expect them to. They never get a blowout victory or hold a big lead very often. It's always gut wrenching stuff that almost takes your life watching them.

Bolded is spoken like a true goalie.

If the Leafs ignore the weasel stuff and just play hard, physical hockey, the Bruins will get even more weaselly - and (at least in theory) it will go over the line and refs will have to call it.

In theory.

I’ll always keep on cheering tho… hell… if me seizing somehow helps them win bows the damn time to roll with that since I’m in the hospital under the eyes of multiple neurologists/neurosurgeons/RNs etc.

Can you imagine if they told me I seize due to being a leafs fan? I’d shrug and go oh well… guess I will just need to accept it lol

Sure I have goalie bias but name a playoff team who doesn't lose their poop when the opposition takes the extra pokes or a stick to the face of their goalie.

The answer is unsuccessful playoff teams.

The Leafs USED to do this, and let people take runs and cheap shots at their star players with no consequences. Those days are done and I'm glad.

I'm fine with ignoring some stuff / not getting sucked in but sometimes you just gotta' use the Jim's and......

Fun article in the Athletic by Siegel about where to put Willy when he comes back.

This stood out to me (about putting Willy with Tavares and Marner):

"Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe dabbled with this threesome here and there late in the regular season to tremendous effect, albeit in a tiny sample size of just 18.5 minutes. But in those 18.5 minutes, the Leafs dominated.

Shot attempts were 34-9 for the Leafs. Scoring chances were 19-4. The Leafs didn’t score but the flurries were there and approaching storm status."

I'm guessing so. I have lots of stories about how I had to do certain things to actually see a Leafs game. Back in the '80's, we used to see games on cable from CFTO channel 9 midweek. Then CHCH came in and took the rights. Of course it was on channel 11 and we in this area had a CBC affiliate nearby in Kingston(CKWS) on 11. So no more Leafs midweek hockey for years. Toronto AM radio was spotty back then and it was hard to hear the games even. So I used to get my little black and white portable and drive all the way to Port Hope, or even to Bowmanville to pick up a signal on Wednesday nights. So damned cold watching Leafs games in a car during the winter. I also often convinced my wife to go visit her sister in Oshawa the odd Wednesday night so I could watch the game at their place. Yeah, a weaselly move but it sufficed. Finally Global got the midweek rights and I could actually sit at home and see those games. It's how I met Harold Ballard. I was able to get a 5000 name petition together and give it to him in person, complaining about them moving the midweek rights to Hamilton and blocking our ability from Cobourg east from seeing the games. He wasn't impressed and told me the small satellite dishes were coming in a few years and you'd have to wait until then. It took 10 years for that to happen. Instead I put up a 10' C Band dish and got the games that way. Damn, it's expensive being a Leafs fan.

It depends on who they want to put out against Pasta. Keeping him contained is priority. Matthews can beat the Coyle line. If it’s JT, I’d put Jarnkrok and Mitch on his wings and have Knies-Holmberg-Willie against Boston’s 3rd.

I still think Willy is in Covid protocol. He worked out and looked OK, in practice. Peculiar that the Leafs activated Matt Murray. Maybe allowing Willy the opportunity to shoot on an NHL goaltender in practice. I'm sure the Black Aces also participated.

Oh hell yeah… and hockey/baseball would essentially be the only reason for us to step up from just the internet. For hockey it’s onhockey.tv so long as I’m using a firestick and it works great.. baseball is mlbwebcast.com. I have just stumbled across a NHLer cast.com site so cross your fingers and hope it works out. Thankfully I’m in a group on FB that plays the leafs game at least.

I’ll be experimenting tonight… wish me luck!

You should invest into a good VPN, program a router for a U.S. site, probably New York State and get a Roku stick and set it up for American programming. You can buy into ESPN+ for about $10USD a month. You can stream every hockey game on the cheap. You can even put Roku on a tablet and access it that way.

Still could mean he's in protocol. You're usually OK within 3 days, where you can infect others, but the NHL might have a different length of protocol maybe 10 days.

I have no dog in the fight for tonight. I just want to see Florida and Tampa to waste each other. The Caps are overmatched and will be gone quickly. Hope for Winnipeg but just know that Colorado has a really good offense. They still scored 6 in their loss. Vancouver is just a better team, but Nashville is overperforming.
