One knock was getting called for penalties. Need to clean up the way they hit and defend a bit I guess. Pk can’t be relied on like that every game, they were terrific
Goodrow has been really good for a few weeks now. Have to give him credit where credit is due. That line can be a huge factor for us if it does what they did today, what a game they had.
Was nice to see 3 lines get a goal at 5 on 5.
If Chytil plays I bet they go with a Cuylle Chytil Wennberg line and put Kakko up with Zib and Kreider. Roslovic probably scratched (not that he was bad or anything) as the odd man out
But Rempe didn't have to try and finish his check in the offensive zone, which could have been a penalty and might have started a war. He has to know when to lay back in the future.

Roslovic is just kind of there - doesnt do much bad but hardly ever stands out.

That was a perfect first game. Got contributions throughout the lineup, not too many big defensive lapses, solid goaltending, didn't get goaded into penalties, etc. Exactly what I thought they were capable of doing and what they should do against this team. The Caps are in my opinion one of the worst playoff teams in the past couple years, so let's continue this and make easy work of them.

So many things to unpack here:

Caps with only 4 shots on goal in the first period and only 6 in a critical third. Where was the push? Absolutely no urgency! Don't recall the Caps having a single breakaway or even an odd man rush!
Caps lost another defenseman. Carlson played the most minutes of any skater in the game. Rempe ( and the rest of the 4th line ) being physical on the forecheck puts enormous pressure on their remaining D.
Having the last line change on home ice was very important today. Lavy put out the perfect lines at the right moments, it really was masterful. Caps got NO favorable matchups the entire game!
I expect the Caps , led by POS Wilson to try and goon it up and get the Rangers off their game. If they fail, then Lindgren is going to have to steal a game and I'm not sure he's up to that . If the Rangers stay focused and HEALTHY, then I don't see a path for the Caps to even win a single game!

Yea some realllllly weak calls, for both teams. And then obvious calls just looked at and nothing. They always find a way to be more involved then they need to be

I felt no stress at all yesterday for the game. I just have so much confidence there is no way they don’t win this series. It’s a weird feeling for playoff time

Tough style to match. Just have to stay patient and disciplined. Wilson is really a POS. He gonna run Zibby all series. It's gonna be an issue. Glad Rempe held off yesterday. He will be fighting Wilson and McGrath soon enough. Hopefully, Cuylle take McGrath for Rempe
as we wait with bated breath I think we can guarantee something didn’t make him happy lol
