1: Didn't evaluate Struble? Feels like he played enough games.

2: David Savard, while very useful, should be bumped down a category. His underlying numbers are all worse than they were last season and they're not getting better.

I love what he brings to the team and I'm glad he's around but Matheson was in another category completely.

I'd give Struble a B, I think he was fairly steady, while showing growth (and errors that may come with that). He seems to be in the middle of a Harris-type player and a WiFi-type player - decent at a lot of things, but still plays pretty tough (but not a fighter).

I think Savard's rating is pretty much where it needs to be, given what he was asked to do / delivered - solid defensively, never met a puck he did not want to block, often paired with rookie / mentor kids. He is not the greatest player, but he is the RIGHT player for this team RIGHT now.

Also, Baron. The dude is a turn-over machine, bad clearing the defensive zone, picks bad times to pinch. He certainly has lots of offensive talent, but I am not sure that overcomes his defensive liabilities (unless he significantly improves). C- or D+ for the season.

One or two of Harris, Struble, Baron, Engstrom, Trudeau will get traded this summer IMO (first 3 names are more valuable). Too many people on the left side and then there is Baron will be subject to waiver next season and he has not clearly showed he belongs in the NHL.

Any words from the NHL about the draft lottery draw? Date and time?

May 6th or 7th depending on the first round playoffs schedule (no games that night I assume)

I have seen reports of either May 6th or 7th, but nothing confirmed by the NHL.

yeah, reading it will depend on the how the 1st round ends, they want to make this an event on its own and no conflict with any games

If they can sign Guentzel, yeah, Necas is probably gone.

Teravainen may take a team friendly, deal, but probably not.

Jarvis gets a bridge deal (Best for him to wait with the cap going way up soon), will keep one of Necas or Guentzel. Drury will be reasonably cheap. Martinook reasonably cheap.

They'll keep one of Skjei/Pesce and sign Chatfield. Will sign a vet RD if Burns retires.

Next season is probably:

Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis
Svechnikov - KK - Teravainen
Martinook - Staal - Fast
Comtois - Drury - Blake

Slavin - Burns
Skjei - Chatfield
Orlov - Morrow

Andersen/Kochetkov

I like Necas, but I am not sure he is the player the Habs need.

He'll certainly help make the offense more dynamic. You gotta make sure there's somebody defensively responsible on the ice with him though because when he's only giving you 80% instead of 100 he's a (frank)ing disaster all over the ice.

Yeah, I see him as more of a solid complementary player than the big hit we need in the top 6. He seems similar to a several top 6/9 players (perhaps a little of an upgrade).

Maybe that gets resolved by winning the draft lottery, but we will see.

I agree but who else is there, pending RFA (tends to be what they like), where his team either quit or is against the cap that fits the position and age group sought?
