The Anaheim Ducks will select third overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, following the results of tonight’s Draft Lottery.
With the Ducks finishing third-last in the league this season, there was no movement in terms of their expected draft position. It marks the sixth season in a row in which the Ducks will hold a top-10 pick, and the third time in the last four years that the team has a top-three pick.
Assuming the San Jose Sharks select Macklin Celebrini with the first-overall pick, things become a lot more wide open from there.
In terms of forwards, some of the bigger names would be Ivan Demidov, Cayden Lindstrom, Berkly Catton, Tij Iginla and Cole Eiserman. If the Ducks opt for a defenseman, they’d likely end up choosing one of Artyom Levshunov, Anton Silayev, Zayne Parekh, Zeev Buium or Sam Dickinson.
With the Ducks' forward core coming together, addressing the blue line could be the more pressing need, though a team is always likely to just go for whoever they deem to be the best player available.
The Ducks also still hold Edmonton's first-round pick, following the Adam Henrique/Sam Carrick trade. The placement of the pick has yet to be determined.
The NHL Draft will take place June 28 and 29.
