Niedermayer's back; Selanne to return in January? |

According to Adam Brady's blog on AnaheimDucks.com the Ducks will hold a press conference tonight in which Brian Burke will announce...something.
That's the word from Brady's blog but according to my sources the press conference is to announce that Scott Niedermayer will announce that he is returning to the Anaheim Ducks. He will NOT play in tonight's game but, according to sources within the Ducks organization, he will return on December 12th at home against the Vancouver Canucks.
In a related story, Teemu Selanne's wife had a baby today. Many have speculated that Teemu was sitting out this season so that he could be with his wife through the pregnancy and get mother and child settled at home before he returned to the ice. Many have also speculated that Teemu was waiting to see what Scott Niedermayer did before he decided what he would do. If either or both of those speculations are accurate than you can look for Selanne to be back with the Ducks in about a month.
Adding to that story is a report coming out of Finland that Teemu would like to return in January, if he is to return, to give him plenty of time to get back into shape for the playoffs. (Link to the article if you read Finnish - http://www.iltalehti.fi/jaakiekko/200712046934619_jk.shtml)
What the Ducks have to do to get under the cap is something that I am sure Brian Burke is not only aware of but already working on. We'll know when he makes the moves but speculation is rampant that Sean O'Donnell, Todd Marchant and perhaps the Ducks 1st round pick in 2009 could be on the move.
Scott Niedermayer is coming back in a week.
Teemu Selanne could be back in a month.
The Anaheim Ducks could be a very tough team to beat in the second half of this season.
