The Trade freeze ends tonight at midnight and don't be shocked if the Rangers pull a deal. I have been told they are talking to Columbus, Edmonton and San Jose. Prucha is the likely guy that all three teams are highly interested in. Adam Foote has been rumoured to NY, but I HIGHLY doubt that Hitchcock would let that happen. Hitch is loyal and Foote campaigned to get Hitch there and more importantly Hitch's system only works if there are players that can sell his system.
If Primeau had never been injured in Philly, I still believe that Hitch would be coaching the Flyers...
The Devils are in talks with the Canucks and Hawks I am told..

This was a fun one where we broke the news that group led by "a former NHL exec" who I knew to be Doug MacLean, but couldn't yet say, was meeting to buy a team in Florida. In what was a really good example of the sites reach it only took minutes for the Panthers Owner to contact Mike Russo and Russo to blog that it wasn't the Panthers.

This is where I reported that the Isles were on the verge of a big trade. This later tunred out to be the deal that Jovo nixed with his NTC. We broke Drake signing with Detroit, and were I believe the first to link Aaron Miller to the Canucks. A signing that happened a few days later.

Just before the draft...alot of pre-UFA stuff... The Leafs were working hard to get Ryan Smyth. I wrote that if they couldn't get Smyth that they were "very hot on Jason Blake." Also talked about the Flyers definitely going hard for a number 1 center. And that center would be Drury or Briere.

At 1:03pm I reported that Shanny was close to signing with the Rangers. The Post was also reporting it, which I added at 4pm. Also, I reported that Canucks were on the verge of a Major deal with a team from the east. a common theme as the Canucks still to this day are looking to fill a huge hole on the offensive side.
