Sources are telling me that Mats Sundin will likely play out by Wednesday or Thursday. Anaheim, San Jose, Calgary, Vancouver, Detroit and NY Rangers are in the mix. I continue to hear from more than one source that teams (fully knowing that Mats will not re-sign) are asking for another player as well. Antropov, the proverbial trade deadline name, continues to come up. I am hearing two GMs have Mats offers in already and that one of them may truly be "enormous and shocking." I continue to hear that Toronto wants to receive players back who will help them as early as next season and aren't steering clear of other pending UFAs who they believe they could re-sign. Players like Boyle, Hossa, Gratton, and Prospal. And don't count Fletcher out of the Jokinen sweeps.

Jokinen's chances of being moved at the deadline are "far greater than him not being moved" I was just told. Toronto, San Jose, Calgary, Pittsburgh are teams that I have heard mentioned.

More and more I am hearing that Montreal is trying to grab both Hossa and Havlat. It just won't go away despite how much I try to debunk it. The Canadiens better not do anything too rash, because that team is truly clicking right now.

Rumours are swirling this morning that the Sharks and Sabres are discussing a deal that could send Brian Campbell to San Jose. Sources are telling me that "while it is possible, everything is still far from falling into place as the Sabres and Campbell work towards a deal." This is really the pivotal point right now, as I have been told that by Wednesday a decision could be made either way.

Rob Blake is now saying, according to TSN, that he will not waive his NTC. I believe this could be part of a negotiation. I talked to one source who felt as of a few days ago that they were in the running for Blake. I still am hearing San Jose and Anaheim...I heard a major offer from NY was turned down.

Speaking of the Rangers, my current pick to win the East, they are going to be extremely active and switch up some of the roster (just when the chemistry looks to be catching up.)

The Red Wings are way out in front on the Prospal and Stuart race I am told. But remember, these things can change minute by minute.

What is fascinating is that with nothing happening yet to the big guys it is entirely possible that a Commodore/Stillman type deal could slip under the radar.

I wouldn't expect anything major until Wednesday or Thursday. History shows us that while GMs may be talking at these meetings, they still usually go home before they make their deals.

Kaberle will NOT be moved, but Kubina is a possibility I was just told.
