Busy day today already...

A few quick notes to consider....

Offer sheets and the great number of players available.

There are literally hundreds of RFAs this year. Offer sheets are coming. They flat out are. I talk to way too many people who are saying the same thing. However, we may be looking at the year of the tier 2 offer sheets. Going after Weber or Carter isn't easy. And giving up all those picks while risking the chance that a team may match is tricky as well.

Look at Ville Koistinen and Kevin Klein in Nashville. The Preds have a plethora of d-men. They are stacked. They even have guys in the minors that are NHL ready. Koistinen is a talented puck moving guy who falls behind Weber, Suter, and Ellis in priority. Yet the guy show the potential to be a star, he is an RFA, who like Klein made less then 500K last year. For 1.5 to 2.5 million per one of these two could be grabbed and it is hard to imagine the Preds would be able to match. Your compensation back would not be a slew of first rounders either.

Olli Jokinen rumours are rampant this morning. Again...Calgary and Vancouver are involved. but I am told that Ottawa, San Jose, Toronto and St. Louis could also be getting into this. I know Jokinen is a real star for someone. I love this guy and he does it all. Very talented, not afraid to hit or get physical. Killer combo. The price will be extremely high...but when does a guy like this become available?

Almost never.

Malkin Rumours continue to surface as talk is that he is looking for a HUGE deal in the area of 10 years 100 million. I would be careful to buy into these rumours...but I do know that every team out there would put a bid in on a player who may be the best in the world someday. I don't see him be moved by the draft. One rumour has him going to the LA Kings for a MAJOR package of players. Another has him going to Toronto. A third, going to Dallas. While I hate to dismiss rumours ever, I think we need to see where this is going first with his contract.

More talk today that Vinny LeCavalier may be seriously considering NOT re-signing and instead testing the market. Mainly the French Canadien market. Now, while I know many will say that the Taxes in Quebec will seriously hinder this, you need to take into account the enormous amount of endorsements that would be there for Vinny in Montreal. He is a good looking, very personable French-Canadian Superstar. pretty much the likes of which we have NEVER seen in the modern marketing era. Vinny could likely DOUBLE a salary of max money if he were to go to Montreal. And he is considering it I am told.

so yesterday, the response to the First ever Hockeybuzz Rumourcast was staggering! So much so that we got shut down. We will do it again today at 2pm. So get your questions in the Hockeybuzz ChatRoom ready, and get ready to call in...
