According a Norwegian newspaper
report , Flyers restricted free agent winger Patrick Thoresen will seek a contract in Europe for next season after failing to come to an agreement with Philadelphia.
As is often the case in these situations, Thoresen wanted a one-way contract with the Flyers that would pay him the same whether he makes the NHL roster or plays in the AHL for the Phantoms. The Flyers offered him a two-way deal.
Thoresen, who stands to make more money in an European elite league than the AHL, turned down the offer. In an
interview with NRK Sport, he said that he's weighing offers to play in Sweden (where he previously played for Djurgården) or Switzerland.
Thoresen said he's still interested in playing in the NHL. However, whether it's with the Flyers or another team, he's only willing to accept a one-way deal. Philadelphia retains his NHL rights as a restricted free agent by virtue of tendering him a qualifying offer.
