Quick Hit...

Three various sources have told me that a trade may be in the works to send Patrick O'Sulivan to Toronto for Van Ryn, Mark Bell and a two mid-round picks.

What do you think?

James Mirtle has a good blog on O'Sullivan http://mirtle.blogspot.com/2007/02/osullivan-and-nhl-dream.html

Talking to a source today, I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that the Sabres are NOT on the verge of signing Jason Pominville as has been reported...Negotiations are ongoing, but I wouldn't classify them as "good."

As a source stated, "When they (the negotiations) are done they are good. Before that you never know."

I do believe the Sabres need to get Jason under contract long term and make the guy captain. For Captain of Buffalo I would name either Jason or Gaustad.

On Martin Gelinas...

Today I am hearing that the NJ Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild have interest in Martin. Martin brings a ton to the table as far as your locker room goes and experience. Hard to imagine why he is still available. In Pittsburgh he could truly help the kids along.

UPDATES. Schneider is very close being dealt I am told to NJ, Boston or Montreal.

more coming

stay tuned

from yesterday...

A source this morning confirmed to me what has long been known.

"Brendan Shanahan would LOVE to end his career in Montreal and with the 100th anniversary and a chance to win the Cup much is falling into place."

There are conflicting reports out there.

I was told back at the draft in Ottawa in the interview room that the Rangers had told Shanny to just hang for a bit and they would figure out how to get him in under the cap and that there was something the Rangers needed to "work out" first.

Of course it was right around the draft that we learned the NHL would not allow a buffer until the NHLPA declared it would not open up the deal....players like Selanne and Shanahan aren't going to sign until around the 15th of this month when the NHLPA clears that up.

For those concerned about the NHLPA maybe deciding to open this up, don't be. I am told it is a foregone conclusion that they won't open it up completely, however waiting this long could mean that there is something the PA would like tweaked or some concession. That is what is widely speculated on the inside, but still no proof to that fact.

I have been hearing about Shanahan and the Canadiens since the lockout and I really could see it happening. It came really close to happening two years ago.

Enjoy your day, and I am talking to a source late tonight so after all of your football fun...be sure to check back...

Want to call me? You can.

My phone number is 213-985 BUZZ (2899)

You can leave me messages for anything Hockeybuzz related. Ask me to come on your radio show, ask a question for Julie and me to answer during the buzzcast, ask a question regarding a rumour...or just say "Hi."

I will tell you that I won't always be answering the phone from numbers that are unfamiliar, although there will be certain times that I will answer. (I may also announce those times)

I can't guarantee to call back everyone, but I will try to call back as many people as possible...I am also working on a way to play some questions and answer them in the blog.

If this becomes popular I may make this number toll free.
