The Devils, after winning against Philly, as expected made the cuts and kept their 23 men to begin the season.
No surprises in the cuts as Vrana and Salmela stuck. The surprise is Salmela may bump Brookbank and Greene to the press box. Salmela can easily find himself on the second D pair, as he feels more comfortable in his new surrounding and the NHL he may be able to give our D a new dimension. He could make a big difference on our PP.
I like this year's Devils team.
It seems that the "dubbed" first line of Elias/Rolston/Gionta have early chemsitry and is a respected line.
Parise is only getting better and he needs to because Zajac and Langenbrunner, his expected linemates, will need to have rebound years on the score sheet.
Madden and Pandolfo do a little bit of everything and I really love Clarkson there.
Holik's presence makes us a bit tougher which I thought we could have had more last year.
Zubrus needs to bounce back because Lou is not going to have his salary for a 4th line player or he could be gone arouond the All-Star break. Plus his little scrap with Langenbrunner doesnt help.
Marty will have another great year and the record is within reach so expect him to come out and we wont see Weeks for the first quarter of the season.
Our D, as a whole, looks good. Martin needs to take it to the next level this year.
I loved that we were able to keep Salvador who is a good guy on and off the ice.
If our D doesnt keep up, we could hear White's name in possible moves.
I am confident in this team as I believe we are a different and even deeper than laat year.
Lou wants to thank the best goalie ever in the NHL (when it is all set and hes a hall of famer) and will do what he needs to do to put a contender on the ice.
Lets go Devils!
This day in 1991
Stephane Richer scored twice in his debut with the Devils, including the 200th goal of his NHL career, and added an assist to lead the team to a 7-2 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues.
