Dallas and Avery come to town tonight as the Devils bring their 4-1 record to the ice.
Vrana had a nice debut replacing Rolston, who is still recovering from his sprained ankle, and scored his first goal.
Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond (how do you fit all of that on the back of a jersey?) will make his NHL debut replacing Holik and his broken finger.
Greene also had a nice game and holding his own out there.
What does all this mean? The Devils are, yet again, a deep team. But this time the ones stepping in are contributing.
Nice to see Zubrus have a good game and contribute in other areas when needed.
ZParise still doing his thing.
Marty - what else can you say? His game has been great so far, not showing signs of old age or rust yet.
Holik had surgery on his broken finger and will be on the shelf for about a month.
The Stars have been moving along and rookie stud Brunnstrom will give us a good guage.
Some numbers to chew one...
Colin White is a +4
Zparise is a point-per-gamer - 3 goals and 2 assists
Marty - 4-1, 1 Shut Out, 1.56 GAA
Vrana and Greene each have a goal on their lone shot vs the Caps
Langenbrunner leads the team with 10 PIMs
So far my grade for the team early on.... B
Avery made a stop at his former arena, MSG, and was up to his old antics. Think he will do his Bobo the clown impresonation in front of Marty tonight? If so Letourneau-Leblond may have to pay him a visit.
Lets go Devils!
Truly yours,
The Devils Advocate
This day in hockey history...
1961 - Montreal's Jacques Plante became the first goaltender in franchise history (and the 6th in the NHL) to record 250 career victories as the Canadiens won 3-2 at Chicago. Claude Provost led the scoring with a goal and two assists.
