Bettman Silences The Mouth |

Sean Avery could have attacked The Commish, Gary Bettman. And gotten away with it.
He could have attacked Mike Modano. And gotten away with it.
He could have attacked the CBA and no one would have really cared.
But when you take on all of Alberta and insult every woman on the planet in the process, that's something else.
It's one thing to be a sexist pig in private. It's another to gloat in front of the cameras as a vulgar athlete.
Bettman suspended "The Mouth That Moved to Dallas" today for this remark, as reported by TSN:
"I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada," Avery said, with cameras rolling. "I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. Enjoy the game tonight."
The NHL said his suspension was for "detrimental conduct."
I couldn't agree more.
