Danny Briere says he pouted last night. And pouted again this morning. And that he's done pouting about all these groin injuries and such, but he can't help but feel he is ripping someone off.
YOU, the fans.
“I did my pouting last night and this morning and obviously, I was very frustrated,” he said during a conference call this afternoon. “I feel like I’m letting the organization down, the coaches down, my teammates down. Letting the Flyers’ fans down. That is where it’s tough.”
Briere will miss the next 4-5 weeks. He's going on long-term injury which will allow the Flyers to bring back defenseman Randy Jones next week without having to waive a player or trade a player.
Bad news = good news, eh?
His injury is complicated. But the gist of it is ... Briere is experiencing his third injury to the abdomen/groin. It's different than the other two. But they're all inter-related because of connective muscle tissues between the abdomen and groin. Make sense?
“The groin area has more than one muscle, so it's probably related to the last groin injury, but this is a different muscle involved now than it was earlier. The injury is significant, so he's going to be on the shelf for a little while,” said general manager Paul Holmgren.

Remember those Flyer days of old when they had loose cannons such as Billy Tibbetts? Never knew what kind of trouble Tibbetts was going to get into. He didn't last long. Thankfully.
Looking at the comments from among the Dallas Stars, it's obvious the players there have had their share of Sean Avery in his latest brush with trashy mouth disease.
I asked several Flyers today about Avery's offensive comments, indirectly directed to Elisa Cuthbert, the girlfriend of Dion Phaneuf.
"Classless," was how Joffrey Lupul put it.
Riley Cote said he "wouldn't expect anything less" of Avery.
Some of the Flyers felt, on one hand, that the indefinite suspension was deserved but on the other, they weren't sure whether the offense was worthy of a suspension.
Scott Hartnell put it all in perspective of what the NHL is dealing with in terms of Avery:
“Every couple months, he comes out of the woodwork and does something off the wall," Hartnell said. "He hasn’t been reprimanded for it. Maybe it’s time he takes a look in the mirror. He’s not doing the right things. He’s not being a role model for kids. It’s time to wake him up.”
