Re-Sign Biron Before FA Begins? |

The way I see it, Marty Biron should be looking at the remainder of this season as if he is playing for his next contract.
If I'm Paul Holmgren, I don't rush into a new deal. I wait the season out, see how well Biron plays, whether he can raise himself farther than he did last season, and see about free agency.
There are some good UFAs out there but realistically, we all expect Tim Thomas to get a whopping raise in Boston and Nik Backstrom to get a decent raise in Minny ... which leaves Manny Fernandez on the open market.
Holmgren tells me on CSNPhilly.com he'd like to get a deal done before free agency on Biron.
“Marty is aware of what is going on,” Holmgren told me. “I talked to his agent [Gilles Lupien]. We have parameters where we’re at ... "
Biron tells me he's not looking at this like he's playing for a contract. Maybe that's a problem. Maybe the Flyers should force him to think that way to elevate his play.
That goal Tuesday night to Michael Frolik was a softee and it cost the Flyers dearly in another one-goal loss. Biron has to have that post covered shortside, even for pucks that go off another guy's skate.
