Two more goals last night for Dominic Moore. This soon to be 28-year-old UFA is impressing at every turn. I still feel strongly that this is the kind of player the Leafs should keep in their rebuild, but rumors are rampant today. On
The NHL Trade Rumor Chart I have my list of teams that I am hearing interested in Moore as the Sharks, Canucks, Flames, Blackhawks and Habs.
With teams like the Canadiens and Canucks struggling, it is very likely that we will be seeing some sort of moves in the next week or so. Neither team can afford to continue down this road for much longer. That is evident. When rumours of Pat Quinn returning to coach Vancouver start to surface look out.
There is also an intriguing trend right now which sees teams once thought of as definite sellers maturing at an incredible rate.
The Kings are the best example. I am simply amazed by the play of these Kings. They are a fun team to watch, and also the Panthers are in a playoff spot!
Many are starting to say that the Panthers will not be moving Jay Bo if they have a shot at a playoff run. That they need the revenues and the publicity that a playoff run would bring. And while I absolutely see this and believe it to be the case I can't help but think of Atlanta last year and Hossa. No one needed it more than Atlanta did and yet in the end losing a superstar for nothing, versus a better shot at making the playoffs won out. We will see.
I watched some of the Blues/Sens game last night and for as boring as it was at times there is definitely something that I am liking about the Blues. They aren't there yet, but you can really see how they will be a force and perhaps could eventually be one of the more enjoyable teams to go and pay to see.
That being said, I am hearing more and more that Keith Tkachuk may leave again, but only for a true Cup shot. I am hearing that there is better than 75% chance that the Penguins will trade for either Tkachuk or Guerin from the Isles. Right now, today at least, I am hearing more Tkachuk.
Here's something I don't get to do a lot. A RED WINGS RUMOR! We joke that the Wings are so solid that it is almost impossible to fire up the fan base. People tend to get fired up when they are angry and the Red Wings just don't do any of the things that other NHL teams do that makes their respective fans angry.
Finally, the play of Osgood has fallen off a bit and there is talk of the Wings making a deal for a goalie. The name that is coming up is Toskala. I am also hearing Giguere, who is not happy with splitting time with a goalie who should be more unhappy that he is splitting time with Giggy...Jonas Hillar has been incredible and is the only hope the Ducks have of a serious run.
more to come...
