Eric Cole.
Just talked to a source and it is down to four teams....Boston, Washington, Pittsburgh and Ottawa. This is a horse race at this point, but it is only getting closer.
I am also hearing that there may be a deadline of sorts for Jay Bouwmeester that has been set of February 25th. According to a few sources, the teams involved have been told that if Jay Bo is dealt it could very well be prior to March 4th. This would be pretty consistent with Jacques Martin. Martin always like to try to control some aspect of the situation.
He also may be afraid that the Vincent LeCavalier situation could be tying up the Rangers and Canadiens and he may very well be right. My money is still VERY heavy on Montreal moving for Vinny in the next week to ten days. I am told by a TOP TOP source that the two teams weren't far apart before and they aren't now. The ball is definitely in Montreal's court here.
(btw, I do not believe that Kovalev has played his last game in Montreal. Not at all.)
I am also hearing a likely return of Daniel Briere to the Flyers lineup is February 25th. I was down at Flyers practice today and Briere was looking very strong. Actually he was not only looking strong but you could see the impact that he was having as he worked closely with Claude Giroux on face-offs. When you watch Briere, you forget the importance of speed. I am told the Flyers feel Danny is far too important come playoff time to deal.
It is possible that Matt Carle could be part of a Bouwmeester deal I heard today. It would make sense. I also heard that Martin Biron would not be moved at the deadline despite recent rumors.
The Ducks have interest in Joffrey Lupul.
We shot some segments of Flyersbuzz TV today where Bill Clement broke down tape with Mike Knuble and Scottie Upshall. Both men were outstanding to listen to talk hockey. Knuble especially has a real coach's head on his shoulders. Watching Bill Clement is also amazing. What a pro. You know an interview goes well when the players are complimentary of the interviewer.
more to come....Including a possible deal between the Stars and Senators.
Win an XBOX 360 and NHL 09...(and whoop my ass once you get it set up)
Just predict where the players will be traded to (or if they aren't going to be dealt at all)>
