As I just reported on CSNPhilly.com, the Flyers waived center Glen Metropolit today in anticipation of activating Danny Briere tomorrow.

GM Paul Holmgren confirmed to me that Metropolit was out there.

“Just because a guy is on waivers doesn’t mean anything,” Holmgren told me. “It gives us options.”

Ok, so Briere's $6.5 million is coming back on. Erase $1 million of Metropolit's salary. Going into today, I had the Flyers having to lose about $2.58 million. If they send Darroll POwe back to the Phantoms and waive Lasse Kukkonen again (he was back on the cap this week), they would still have to lose about $250,000 to $300,000, the way I see it.
