UPDATE - Mike Santorelli has been recalled from Milwaukee.

-----------------------------

The Predators came into Detroit Saturday evening after a big win over the Kings looking to extend their seven game point streak and two game win streak, but not even the most positive Pred fan expected an outright win.

After all… the last time these two teams got together, exactly 29 days earlier, the Red Wings lost and lost big. A soul-sucking 8-0 blowout that should’ve been inspiration enough… however, a desperate Predator team went into the Joe last night a pulled out another third period comeback against the defending Stanley Cup champs.

These Cardiac Cats are causing grey hair throughout Pred Nation, and probably causing the coaching staff to stock up on Tums and Rogaine.

Last night’s heartburn inducing moment? Martin Erat going down with a broken leg in the second period… At that point Pred fans everywhere lifted their hands and screamed “Hockey gods… why must you torment us so???”

Six games left… and a chance to sew up their fifth playoff spot before they have to finish the season on the road. Six games left minus Martin Erat… maybe minus David Legwand, maybe minus Jason Arnott.

Legwand is being re-evaluated today… Arnott has begun skating on his own and is making progress. The team may dip back into Milwaukee and make a call-up. Personally I’d like to see what Nick Spaling could do with the big club.

Strap in Pred fans… this roller coaster ride ain’t over yet.

------------------------------

According to SportsClubStats.com, the Predators chances of making the playoffs went up by 14.4 points with the results of last night’s play, to 63.6%... current chances of the teams fighting for those last two spots…

Nashville – 37.8%
St. Louis – 57.6%
Anaheim – 45.9%
Edmonton – 22.3%
Minnesota – 18.6%
Dallas - 0.5%

------------------------------

As I write this all five teams from the Central Division are in the top eight in the Western Conference…. Wow!

------------------------------

The “Where We Stand” Update

The Predators stand 7th in the Western Conference at 84 points. They are one point ahead of St. Louis, two points ahead of Anaheim, three points ahead of Edmonton, four points ahead of Minnesota and nine points ahead of Dallas.

The Predators are…

- Two points behind 6th place Columbus, the Preds have two remaining games against the Jackets, this Tuesday @ Nationwide and at home on Saturday.
