The NHL has suspended Milan Lucic for a single game.
I don't think Lucic deserved to be suspended. that's my opinion. FWIW. I feel as if suspension for Cammalleri was merited. Difference? Lapierre was charging directly at Lucic and Lucic reaction was to put his glove up.
Reckless? Yes.
A Major Penalty. Yes.
A suspension. NO.
Cammalleri took a cheap shot at Hossa from a stand still prior to a face-off.
I believe a suspension should result as something malicious done by a player who goes out of their way to attempt to injure a player.
As NHL senior VP Colin Campbell said, "It is unclear whether Lucic's glove or stick makes contact with Lapierre.....but what is clear is that he delivered a reckless and forceful blow to the head of his opponent."
So why the game if there is no proof. How is a reckless and forceful blow to an opponent charging at you in an attempt to hurt you any different than defending yourself in a fight?
