Timonen, Kunitz, Others Have Their Say |

Chris Kunitz defends himself today with his devastating hit on Kimmo Timonen that surprisingly, didn't injure the FLyers' defenseman during Game 3 of the Flyers-Penguins series.
I think the hit was an elbow to the head and should have carried a suspension. Timonen is being targeted - that's playoff hockey. But I agree with coach John Stevens that Kunitz'; intent was to injure - not separate man from puck.
Pretty good fight from Scott Hartnell right after that on Kunitz.
“Obviously you expect a team to react," Kunitz said. "He’s a guy that’s a character guy on their team. He was looking to protect his teammate and that’s kind of what good teams do, they go and they stick up for each other. It was nothing you didn’t expect, it was just the way hockey goes.”
Timonen had some thoughts today.
"If he is going into the game trying to hurt me, that’s fine," Timonen said. "I don’t really care. Hopefully, we can do the same things to them tomorrow. It really doesn’t bother me unless I don’t stay healthy. I’m fine now. I’m looking forward to tomorrow, actually.”
