Flyers ' General Manager Paul Holmgren announced today that Simon Gagne had successful surgery on his right hip to clean up scar tissue and remove a bone spur.
Thomas Byrd performed the surgery in Nashville, Tenn. Gagne's recovery will take 4-6 weeks, Holmgren said.
Here's what Gagne had to say:
“I feel pretty good. had surgery this morning and right now I am on my way back from Nashville to Philly. We were able to treat it with some pain relief medicine before games to take the edge off the pain. But during the regular season there were some up and downs but I was still able to play. I didn’t have to stop because of the pain. The pain was there once in a while but it was something that I was okay to play with.”
Congrats Simon and wife, Karine, on baby Matthew born on May 23.
"I am sure the next couple of days are going to be very fun to get better, start to heal the hip with my baby, Matthew, and my wife," Gagne said. "It is definitely one of the greatest moments in my life.”
