I was convinced coming back from the Stanley Cup Final that the Bruins and Caps would meet at the 2010 Winter Classic in Fenway Park.

Even the Flyers had conceded they were out of it before the Final began.

But NBC flexed its muscles, I am told, and they wanted the Flyers over the Caps. Ek was right. The Flyers are back in it and all signs point toward the Caps losing out in what is really a stunning reversal this late in the game.

I still don't see an announcement on this until after the NHL Draft, maybe around free agency or days after free agency begins. Nothing like advance planning, eh?
