Capgeek.com has the Nashville Predators with two signings yesterday, I cannot get confirmation on these yet. BTW… This is a great site for cap numbers and breakdowns.

Ryan Maki is listed as signed, one year, $500,000. He has spent the last two seasons in Milwaukee. The 25 yr. old had a decent season with the Ad’s last year.

The more interesting signing is Ben Guite. Originally a seventh round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1997 draft, Guite knocked around the AHL for seven seasons before finally catching on with Colorado in 06-07. He has 169 games of NHL experience and should find a role on the Preds fourth line. Capgeek.com has his contract for one year at $550,000.

Both contracts are listed as “two-way” deals.

The Alex Tanguay situation continues to swirl. He is coming off a sub-par year with the canadiens, however, he could make a real contribution to the Preds, but only at a reasonable cost. Tanguay parlayed a great year in Colorado into a 3 year, $15 million contract. A contract he never really lived up to.

The news out of Chicago is shocking… Once again I’m scratching my head on a firing out of the Windy City… But then again, the firing of Denis Savard had me questioning things as well… and look how that worked out…

Dale Tallon is out… Stan Bowman is in. The Chicago soap opera continues.
