A couple of people of consequence I contacted this morning about the firing of NHLPA boss Paul Kelly were shocked.
None saw this coming?
I fear now that the dissidents have gained complete control over the union and we're headed for another lockout when the CBA expires.
Do you think the NHL could withstand another season-long lockout without complete collapse? I don't.
So let's take the pulse of the readership, shall we?
How many people agree w/me that the removal of Paul Kelly will lead to a more "hard line" successor? And how many of you feel the NHL could survive, as a league, with another lockout?
Paul Kelly was a good, decent man. Maybe the best of his kind to run the union. I can't wait to see how the union intends to explain this because the way I see it, it can;'t be rationally explained if you care about the game of hockey.
Remember ... there is no game if there are no players playing it.
