Tim will have an update on his blog and CSN column, but here are some quick notes from practice:

* The Flyers have signed Blair Betts to a one-year contract.

* Brian Boucher worked out early this morning and has made some progress in recovering from his groin injury.

* Minor league goalie Michael Teslak worked out with the club today along with Johan Backlund. According to Paul Holmgren it was because Backlund was under the weather. As expected, Backlund will be the backup to Ray Emery on the road trip.

* With Ole-Kristian Tollefsen on IR to start the season, the club will be bringing Phantoms rookie Marc-Andre Bourdon along on the trip as an eighth defenseman. Bourdon did not dress in a game with the big club during the preseason.

* The team practiced with the following lines today:

Hartnell - Carter - Briere
Gagne - Richards- Pyorala
JVR - Giroux - Powe
Carcillo - Betts - Laperriere
Cote - (various) - Asham

Pronger - Carle
Timonen - Coburn
Parent - Syvret

I'm happy to announce that we have a new sponsor for the Flyers' page at Hockeybuzz. PhillyPhaithful.com is a web-based sports merchandise marketplace geared toward specifically toward Philadelphia sports fans.

They specialize in originally designed apparel to capture the sports culture in our area. For instance, there's a shirt that says "You can't spell Crosby without C,R,Y". The owner, Dan Hershberg is a longtime friend of Hockeybuzz and we're glad to have him on board.
