I never like to read to much into the NHL schedule ... but ... this is a huge week for the Flyers to see it they are as legit as they say they are and as they appear to be.
Washington, Pittsburgh and Anaheim. Three, very good tests right away and all three come in as the Flyers have gotten off to a nice 2-0 start.
Did we mention Chris Pronger's 35th birthday is Saturday against his old team, the Ducks? Nice of The Commish to make sure the sked and Pronger's BD matched-up.
First up, Alex Ovechkin, then Sidney Crosby and Evegni Malkin and then Scott Niedermayer ...
Meanwhile, two games into the season and Braydon Coburn has almost 11 minutes on the PK units while Mike Richards and Jeff Carter's PP time is equally split ... I think less minutes on PK will keep a lot of players fresher and the divvy-up of the PP to keep things equal, may not appease everyone, but that's part of the "team" concept coach John Stevens was stressing to the media today.
Carter and Richards are equals in his mind, and that goes to PP duties ...
Chris Pronger had some thoughts on Alex Ovechkin today.
“It’s a big week,” Pronger said. “There’s a lot going on.”
