John Stevens swears he wasn't putting the Flyers through a "bag skate" this morning at Skate Zone.
Could have fooled us. Sure looked like it with all the sprints and the expression on player's faces after they had already had an up-tempo drills' session.
Stevens said it had nothing to do with blowing a 2-0 lead in the final 7 minutes against Anaheim over the weekend . Or losing in the shootout.
He said it was a "planned event" for conditioning.
I asked Chris Pronger the last time he had a bag skate under Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle.
“Probably before Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals, Round 2,” Pronger said immediately. . “We did a lot that in Anaheim.”
Chuck Gormley didn't believe it.
“You couldn’t have done that before a Game 7! That’s just wearing a team out, isn’t it?” Chuckles said to Pronger
“Thank You! You answered your own question,” Pronger replied.

Good news on the injury front.
James van Riemsdyk (concussion symptoms) partook of the complete practice and bag skate at the end. He said he felt great and plans to play Friday in Florida.
Blair Betts told me he think he can play NEXT Thursday here against Boston. He is ahead of schedule on his recovery from a right shoulder dislocation.
