Late, late night following the whole Toronto Saga. I am going on 3 hours of sleep. This is what I have pieced together. The Leafs and Carter are "oh so close" to a deal, but Vancouver has gotten back into it at the last second. The Red Wings are also a player in this game. Meanwhile the Leafs and Peca are talking and it is possible that both will happen now that it appears evident that Lindros will end up playing out west. Edmonton(e2), LA (e3), Calgary (e2), and Phoenix (e2) are the ones leading the pack. My gut says Edmonton or Phoenix, but I still believe that Calgary is nuts if they don't sign 88. I believe he and Iginla would put them over the top.

Today looks like the day that the Eagle will grow Wings as Eddie Belfour and the Red Wings are very close to announcing a deal(e4)...A rumor was circulating yesterday that the reason this deal has been stalled was because the Wings were working a deal that would have sent Lang to Buffalo for Biron plus a forward. The forward was the sticking point.

The Panthers are now in talks to get Biron, and the Sabres would like Bouwmeester. The Panthers, who have cap room, may take one of the arbitration players off the Sabres hands. Word is Adam Mair could go the other way. The Panthers are also considering Aebischer as an alternative.

I will be on XM tonight at 7:05PM.
