Same Emery, Different Look

Love that picture of Ray Emery from his Ottawa days.

The look of intensity. Eyes that see right through you. And that full head of hair which is now cropped very short.

Emery's "look" as a Flyer is very different but not his no-nonsense approach to the game.

Some interesting observations from Emery's teammates today about Emery.

I thought the best came from coach John Stevens, who admitted, that Emery had surprised him in being such a good guy in the dressing room.

“I’ve been pleasantly surprised by who he is and how he conducts himself and how team-oriented he is,” Stevens said. “How hard he works. He’s really a quiet guy. You can almost say he is shy at times … He has a quiet confidence about him you love.”

In Ottawa, today, Emery's former teammates had good things to say about him, as well.

“I don’t know if ‘wake up call’ is what you would call it, but in the end it might have been the best thing that happened to him,” Chris Phillips told reporters. “I think he learned some lessons. It’s good to see he’s back in the game.”

Here's the Flyers commenting on Emery from my story running on CSNPhilly.com. A little later, we will post a story with quotes from the Senators on Emery, as well:
