UPDATE:

I didnt realize Dean Lombardi said this in late Sept. on Toronto radio, but now that the Kings feel the Gretzky situation with the Coyotes is over, I think Murray was telling us they are increasing their efforts to get No. 99 back in LA.

Why Brian Boucher tonight vs. Kings?

“We looked at the schedule a week ago, [goalie coach Jeff Reese] and I sat down and thought Ray [Emery] had played three games in five days there and traveled,” John Stevens said. “Boosh is rested, we have lots of hockey this week.

“So, I think it’s a good opportunity for Boosh to get in. We need him to play well here and at the same time, give Ray some rest, heading into a busy week here.”

Stevens told me there is a chance Boucher could play SAT in Phoenix. That game begins 8 p.m. Eastern.

Terry Murray stunned me today at the morning skate in El Segundo when he told me the LA KIngs have asked Wayne Gretzky to come back into the fold.

I asked him a general question about getting Kings' alumni involved in what has become an up and coming club in the NHL. Murray would like to see Gretzky in a permanent capacity.
