MINI-PREVIEW (1:30 AM)
The Flyers will need to quickly forget about their 6-3 loss in San Jose and battle through potentially tired legs as the club travels to Phoenix to take on the hard-working Coyotes. For Philly, it marks the fourth game of the week (in three different time zones) as well as the back half of a Friday-Saturday slate.
No team can afford to take Dave Tippett's squad too lightly. The Coyotes may not have much firepower, but they battle hard on every shift. Phoenix has already burned several under-prepared opponents this year. The Flyers often seem to come up small against the Coyotes, anyway, and are 1-4-0 in the last five games in Phoenix. Philly has been shut out in two of the last three games in Phoenix. However, when the clubs played last season in Philly, the Flyers prevailed in OT, 4-3.
As of this writing, the condition of Darroll Powe (who was heavily favoring a shoulder after taking a big late-game hit in the Sharks game) is not yet clear. If he's unable to play, Riley Cote will be back in the lineup for the Flyers. I suspect that Brian Boucher has been slated all week to get the start in this game, although there's been nothing official.
My take on the Flyers-Sharks game is the subject of today's
