The flight from Denver was perfect.

Until we landed and had to go collect bags.

I was waiting - the usual 40 minutes - to get my luggage at Philly International this afternoon, when the NHL suspended Danny Briere. It popped up on the Blackberry.

For what? I thought. The Scott Hannan hit?

No one talked about that on EITHER side after the game in Colorado. But Danny Boy go 2 games.

This proves to me that the NHL is always looking for ways to collect revenues from the Flyers, outside of David Poile asking for his annual revenue sharing check to keep Nashville afloat.

But I digress.

I called Briere on my cell as the noise of thousands of fliers at the airport made doing the interview on the phone sheer hell.

But this is part of reporting on the fly, as they say, when you fly.

Briere is trying to reinvent the Gordie Howe Hat Trick with a fight, 2 goals and a suspension.

Some of what he said could not be translated because the luggage carousels were so damn loud, not to mention the noise, in general, at the airport.
