UPDATED: Holmgren on Syvret

Anyone who has been watching the Flyers, of late, and the defense had to be wondering at what point was someone going to go back to the Phantoms given how well Oskars Bartulis has played.

It happened on Gobble, Gobble Day as the Flyers put Danny Syvret through waivers, as I reported on CSNPhilly.com.

"We have to get him playing," GM Paul Holmgren told me. "If he clears, we'll put him on the Phantoms."

With a $42,250 waiver claim price, I think he will clear. ...

Bartulis has played very well and has kept Syvret on the bench. So much, Syvret did not dress for 7 straight games.

Holmgren agreed that Bartulis' play has earned him his position right now.

Looks like the Flyers are learning something about their defense these days and how many interchangeable parts they have.
