According to reports Gomez was awarded in the upper 5's. Rumors now are running rampant that a deal will be made in the next day or so to ship Gomez out of town. A rumor on the net this morning that would send Gomez to the Predators is "completely untrue" according to a top Predators source. There are teams that are very interested however.

Calgary has been rumored to be getting every top line center that has become available, and Gomez is no exception. Colorado and Phoenix are also rumored to be involved, and as of this morning, Washington and Florida are making pitches. The Devils may take their time on this move.

As has been speculated, The Malakhov Contract could be taken on by a team as well. A very interesting situation where his money counts against the cap, but you don't need to actually pay him. So a team like the Caps or Panthers could take on the contract along with Gomez and kill two birds with one stone for the Devils.

There is also talk of a big trade involving the Sabres/ Canucks and the Oilers. I have heard this from several sources with no one revealing names as of yet. I will stay on this, and will be doing a chat at 4pm .
