PREVIEW (9:30 AM)

In their last game of the 2009 calendar year, the Flyers (18-18-2) will look to extend their winning streak to four consecutive games before they head to Boston to take on the Bruins at Fenway Park in the Winter Classic. Standing in Philly's way are the archrival New York Rangers (18-16-4). The Blueshirts shut down the Flyers at the Wachovia Center the weekend before the Christmas break and are currently two points ahead of the last-place Flyers in the Atlantic Division standings.

Tonight's game will be a good test of whether the Flyers have truly started to turn a corner. The Rangers have been on a roller coaster ride of their own this season and will be without the services of two-time former Flyer and longtime Flyer-killer Vaclav Prospal. Philly still needs to come up with a much more complete effort than it displayed in two of its three recent wins, and special teams in particular remain a question mark.

This week's Across the Pond at NHL.com takes a look at the recently completed Division I World Junior Championships. Germany and Norway won their respective pools to earn spots at next year's WJC in Buffalo.

Today's Daily Drop at Versus.com looks at the Sabres' dramatic comeback win over the Penguins last night. Whether you love or hate Lindy Ruff, the Sabres' coach has a knack for pushing the right buttons with his Sabres club. That was very much in evidence again last night.

Today's World Junior Championships matchups aren't quite marquee games. The Swiss take on the Latvians, while Finland takes on Austria. The webcasts are available here.
