MINI-PREVIEW (9 AM)

The Flyers will look to get back on the winning track after losing in overtime in the Winter Classic and then playing sloppy hockey in a high-scoring loss in Ottawa. This in the first of four meeting with Toronto this season. Later this month (Jan 14) the clubs will meet in Toronto. After a brutal start this season, Toronto played better hockey but has struggled again of late, winning just 3 of their last 10 games.

Both teams need to do a better job of staying out of the penalty box. The Flyers lead the NHL with 17.1 penalty minutes per game, and their penalty kill has been struggling since early December. While Toronto is in the middle of the pack (13th in the NHL) in terms of penalties takes, they have the NHL's worst road penalty kill. This is an area the Flyers can potentially exploit, as the club remains third in the NHL with 21 home power-play goals.
