Leighton Will Stay In Net |

A bearded Paul Holmgren is chatting with me about the Flyers unusual goalie situation.
I mention I can't see how coach Peter Laviolette can take Michael Leighton out until he falls on his own.
"That’s a coaching decision, but I certainly know what I would do,” Holmgren tells me.
Michael Leighton stays in net. The coach said so.
Even though Ray Emery is healthy and will be activated by tomorrow, if not today, Leighton stays in net.
That's the way it should be.
The Atlantic Division is insane right now. Here are in mid-January and there is no separation anywhere. It's too tight. The Flyers are winning but they are still NOT in a playoff spot. They're 9th.
"Look, we need points," Holmgren said.
Translation: you don't fool with the lineup if you are winning and you are desperate to keep it going that way.
I feel bad for Brian Boucher. It's fairly obvious where this is headed. Unless the Flyers send back a skater or 2 when Ryan Parent comes back, Boucher figures to be the odd man out.
Laviolette likes what he is seeing of Leighton, and given the past history here, I don't anticipate Leighton being the odd guy, especially, since the salary cap numbers favor keeping Leighton who has a smaller hit than Boucher.
Here's everyone's take on it, broken into 2 stories on CSNPhilly.com because "Three's A Crowd" in net and it's too much to cram into one story, even on the internet:
