Monday Notes

- Shame on Channel 4 yesterday. A rematch of the Stanley Cup… a market where a significant number of transplant Detroit fans live… and they decide to preempt the game with a telethon… for Pat Freakin’ Robertson??? You can tell that the station learned from their network’s handling of the Conan/Jay and followed suit. Suggestion for next time… move the game to your secondary digital channel.

- The Predators had a day off yesterday. Enough to be able to rest a bit after breaking a very long losing streak. Saturday’s win was satisfying simply because it appeared the hockey gods once again found their way to 501 Broadway.

- I have to say… the bunch of crazy’s that came to the game from Atlanta did a good job livening up the atmosphere. It’s a shame the weather held back so many from coming to the game. Kudos to the Atlanta Fan Club for their spirit… there are pictures from their tailgate party they held pre-game on www.hockeybuzzradio.com.

- John Glennon is reporting today that Marcel Goc should be back in the lineup tomorrow night. Nick Spaling has been sent down to Milwaukee.

- The Calgary / Toronto / Anaheim deal had everyone talking yesterday… good deal for Toronto, I think… but I’m not sure it’s the “fresh start” that Dion Phaneuf may have been looking for. That’s going from the frying pan into the fire. Not sure how this deal helps Calgary, but one thing is for sure, I don’t think the Flames are done dealing.

- The Coyotes are hot right now, winning four straight coming into Nashville tomorrow night.

- The Preds still stand 7th in the conference, 1 point up on Calgary and Detroit with a game in hand on each.
