PREVIEW (11 AM)
Coming off one of their most dramatic wins of the season, the Flyers will look to sweep the home-and-home set with the New Jersey Devils tonight when the clubs meet again in Newark. On Monday, the Flyers overcame a 2-0 deficit in the second period against a New Jersey team that had an 18-1-0 record when leading after the first period.
A repeat performance is not recommended, although the Devils have struggled of late, winning just three of their last 10 games. On Monday, the Flyers' best line over the course of the entire game was Claude Giroux's line, and it was James van Riemsdyk who got the team heading in the right direction with a tremendous individual effort on the Flyers' first goal. Thereafter, Jeff Carter got the game tied and Mike Richards converted Kimmo Timonen's feed to win the game in the third period. Timonen also broke up a 2-on-1 rush for New Jersey in the waning seconds of the first period.
Ilya Kovalchuk was largely a non-factor in Monday's game until the latter stages of the third period. He missed the mark on several shot attempts on the Devils' late-game power play but is a threat to score at any time and from just about any angle.
The Flyers will go with the same lineup as on Monday. Dan Carcillo will remain on the Mike Richards line and Michael Leighton will continue to start in goal in place of the injured Ray Emery (hip). Head coach Peter Laviolette refuses to commit to a timetable to get recently acquired Ville Leino into the lineup -- an indication that he doesn't see a role for the Finn on his team barring injury.
