Flyers: Shutting Down Razor |
|
|
|
Stop me if you fear this is Groundhog Day.
Ray Emery is on the shelf. Again.
Gonna be at least 3 weeks.
Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren said the club is going to use the Olympic break to shut Emery down on the ice and see if it helps his ailing left hip.
From the very start of this hip stuff, the thing that worries me most, is that Emery will need off-season surgery, try to come back, ruin whatever rhythm Michael Leighton has developed, and be forced into the No. 1 role when he's not ready and that spells disaster.
My solution? Let Leighton run with it the rest the way. Even if Emery comes back, it's going to take him time to get back into form and the playoff chase is much too close to allow for "ifs" at this point.
I also think it would be a mistake to re-sign him in-season, given all that has happen.
