The pulse throughout Flyerdom after trade deadline day seems to be one of frustration, if not anger in some parts, because the FLyers didn't land a scoring winger or depth defenseman, or upgrade in goal.
I've said all along that Michael Leighton has shown me something and deserves a chance. Yeah, he didn't look good last night but ... Marty Brodeur didn't look good last month against the Flyers and some other clubs.
That's not to compare the two. What I am saying is that every goalie has a bad game. I thought Brian Boucher started very badly in relief, but settled down in the final period in the 7-4 loss at Florida.
I think the Flyers erred in not getting more depth at wing and especially on defense, given the uncertainty of Ryan Paren'ts back.
Anyway, I finally caught up to Ed Snider this afternoon to find out his take on Trade Deadline Day. He backs GM Paul Holmgren but also says he is worried about the loss of depth in goal and even more worried about the long-term prognosis for Ray Emery, who will have hip surgery at some point.
I don't think Snider's comments are going to make Flyer fan feel all that much better given the passion in their words these past 2 days.
