PREVIEW (11 AM)
Coming off one of their most dramatic regular season victories in recent memory, the Flyers need to carry over the momentum of yesterday's win over the Blackhawks. A victory in today's divisional game today with the New York Rangers would further solidify the Flyers' playoff positioning. Landing the sixth seed and drawing either Ottawa or Buffalo is a preferable scenario to finishing seventh and getting Pittsburgh or New Jersey.
The Flyers will be seeing a lot of the Rangers in the stretch drive so this is an especially important game to win. Philly has won two of the three previous meetings this season, shutting out the Rangers twice and holding New York to a total of two goals overall. The Rangers are coming off a solid win on Friday over the Thrashers.
With the Rangers having had the day off yesterday and the Flyers playing on back-to-back days, New York has the edge in terms of the potential wear-down effect in the third period. It's crucial for the Flyers to keep their shifts short and stay out of the penalty box.
Presumably, the Flyers will go with the same starting position-player lineup as yesterday.
