PREVIEW (11:15 AM)
The one-step-forward-one-step-back Flyers will try to shake off their frustrating loss to the Rangers tonight when they travel to Nashville to take on a Predators club that appears likely to be the seventh seed in the Western Conference. Despite possessing a less talented roster than the Flyers, Nashville has 81 points to the Flyers' 76 -- in the tougher of the two NHL conferences.
There are times where the Preds seem to get the job done with smoke and mirrors, as they have actually allowed more goals than they've scored this season. Typical of Barry Trotz's squads, however, the Preds usually make other teams battle hard for their goals. Pekka Rinne has played especially well in net of late, earning Third Star of the Week honors from the NHL last week.
For the Flyers, Jeff Carter has 10 goals in his last 12 games while Simon Gagne has six goals in his last eight games, and Chris Pronger has 11 points (one goal and 10 assists) in his last dozen games. For Nashville, the dangerous Patric Hornqvist has three goals in the last three games.
