UPDATE: Carter is Game-Time Decision |
|
|
|
GM Paul Holmgren said THUR that Jeff Carter will be a game-time decision on FRI at NY against the Rangers.
Knowing Carter and his tolerance for pain, my bet is that he will downplay his pain (left foot) and allow the medical staff to give him the go-ahead to play as the Flyers need 2 points in 2 games this weekend to clinch a playoff spot.
Here's reaction from Carter, Holmgren and others as per my story on CSNPhilly.com:

Jeff Carter, who has missed 8 games, with a small fracture of the left foot, will return to practice on Thursday.
GM Paul Holmgren told me there was a "slight" chance Carter could play this weekend.
If I'm the Flyers and they clinch a playoff berth either tonight or FRI, I don't play Carter until the playoffs begin.
What's the point? What if one of the Rangers decides to take a cheap shot at his ankle once New York gets eliminated?
Same with Johan Backlund. Wait until the playoffs before putting him in net.
There is no reason to rush things "if" the Flyers clinch ...
Holmgren said that depending how Carter feels after skating will determine what happens next. My bet is Carter will want to play right away.
