The Best of Pre-Game Quotes ...

Simon Gagne on playing:
“It takes awhile before healing the bone, most of the time it could take 6 – 8 weeks, so I’ll definitely take that time off,” Gagne said. “It’s getting better and I’m getting better every day and that’s the way it is.

“Like I said, you’re going to have to play through pain in the playoffs. And I’m not the only one and that’s part of it.”

Video shows him falling in Game 6 and coming up limping.

“Like I said, I don’t know where it came from,” he said. “I’m OK. I didn’t practice yesterday because it’s just a practice. It gave me time between games to heal and get better. I will play tonight, and that’s what I’m here for.”

Claude Julien on losing momentum:

“I don’t know if it is even about momentum,” he said. “For me tonight, it’s about winning a hockey game and not regaining momentum. It doesn’t matter. If you win, you move on. That’s all we think about here, is winning the hockey game. And not worry what has happened in the past.

“Big players have to play big in the big game. In those kind of games, you go in there and hope someone is going to make a difference. Your best players are your role players. I just care that someone comes up big and does something big and something good for us.

“That is what you have to try and challenge your whole team. If you put it up just on your key players, then you are telling everyone else to just go out and play. We want everyone to be difference makers.

Peter Laviolette on Game 7's:

“You mean our fifth Game 7 here?” he said, referring to 4 straight elimination games in these playoffs, plus Game #82 in the regular season against the Rangers that came down to a shootout to determine who made the playoffs and who didn’t.

“We’re in a familiar spot. It really is our fifth time we’re faced with elimination. I feel like we’re ready for this. Our message hasn’t change since Day One. Everything stays the same. The meetings are the same, the message is the same, what’s expected is the same.

“It’s important that we go out and do what we’ve been doing. Since Christmas time, it’s found us a lot of success. When you start mentioning Game 7, there’s this hype and there’s this build-up. Because somebody is going home. But we’ve been faced with that for a while, now.”
